In Rewari, farmers blocked the road in front of the Bithwana grain market on the Rewari-Bawal road due to non-purchase of mustard. Police and administrative officials, who reached the spot after getting information about the jam, tried to open the jam by assuring the farmers to buy the crop, but the angry farmers did not listen and did not open the jam. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the road due to which motorists had to face a lot of problems.
Sunita, secretary of the market committee, who reached the spot, said that the farmers’ crops are being purchased but due to the completion of hafed stock, the purchase has been stopped for some time. The procurement will be resumed after discussions with the concerned authorities.
Now it has to be seen whether the district administration and the state government will take some concrete steps to take care of the farmers who are forced to block the crop or whether the farmers will be forced to launch a big movement for their crop purchase!
